The types of job openings of any area or state reflect the economical growth levels and the standard of industrial development of the region. A government agency survey states that there were three million job openings in July 2010. These job openings have increased by 2.3% over the months. Within this survey, the hiring rate was 3.3% and 3.4% was the separations rate. These figures include the rate of total non farm sector with industry and geographic regional breaks. The number of job openings has increased by 30% that is 704,000 since July 2009.

The seven-county regions of south eastern Wisconsin showed 7,520 full-time and 3,449 part-time jobs in May 2009. These were inclusive of the job replacements which resulted from turnover due to retirements, resignations, and firings among the workers plus shifting in occupational requirements like labor shortages, seasonal fluctuations, or company expansions. The health industry is the driving force for Local job openings. It is surprising to know that one of every four job openings is related to the health care sector directly or indirectly working for health-care providers. One of every three part-time jobs goes to the health-related field. This industry showed around 2,497 job openings and related employment opportunities in nursing homes, hospitals, medical clinics and various healthcare-providing agencies. Majority of these jobs require some sort of training apart from high school.

 

Skills Required for Various Jobs

When employers with immediate job openings were requested information regarding the skill requirements and to indicate necessity of prior experience the narrative

responses that were received were as follows: High school diploma and no experience requirement; at least a four-year college i.e. Bachelor of Arts, or Bachelor of Science, degree or master’s degree; certification, license or occupation-specific experience, associate degree needed. It is indicative that more than 80% of full-time job openings require qualification, training or experience beyond high school. Around 50% jobs require a license, certification, associate degree or occupation-specific training. Local job openings that require no experience but a simple high school completion come around 4%. Salary offered reflects the level of qualification needed for a vacancy.
